Ar. Kiran S. Mahajani, President, Council of Architecture

Ar. Prof. Kiran S. Mahajani is an accomplished practicing architect, academician and administrator with close to four decades of experience spanning architectural practice, education, research, institutional building &development and professional administration. He currently serves as the President of the Council of Architecture (CoA), a statutory body in the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

He holds a Bachelor of Architecture with Honours from Sir J.J. College of Architecture, Mumbai, and a Master of Building Engineering & Management from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, with Distinction.

Prof. Mahajani has been associated with Council of Architecture for almost 2 decades, working in different capacities.  He has served in several committees and in advisory capacities associated with the Council of Architecture, Rajasthan Technical University, professional institutions, government departments and academic organisations. He has made significant contributions to a variety of areas including architectural education, professional practice, curriculum development, institutional evaluation and policy formulation.  He was also member of Board of Governors of School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal.

He is the Principal of Aayojan School of Architecture at Jaipur and has been associated with Aayojan School of Architecture & Design at Pune, also. His academic engagements include teaching, external examination, curriculum-related responsibilities and institutional development.

Prof. Mahajani is the Principal Architect with Aayojan Architects since its establishment in 1987 and has extensive experience in architectural practice across institutional, residential, educational, hospitality and urban development projects. His professional portfolio includes institutional complexes, residential developments, educational campuses, public buildings, sports facilities and urban planning assignments, along with projects undertaken in collaboration with international consultants.

His professional and academic service extends to various statutory, advisory and expert bodies. He has also contributed to research and publications concerning traditional architecture, desert settlements, heritage and urban planning, including studies on the architectural heritage of Rajasthan and master planning of towns in the region.He is also actively engaged in social causes, the prominent one is being a Trustee and Chairman of the Building Committee with Calgary Eye Hospital at Jaipur, which is a charitable public eye hospital.

Through his diverse experience as a practitioner, educator, administrator and professional leader, Prof. Mahajani brings a comprehensive perspective to the advancement of architectural education, professional standards and the architectural profession in India.
